YAMAHA ENGINES

Engines

When it comes to deciding on power options for your new or used boat, there are many factors to consider . . . 2-stroke or 4-sroke, how fast you want to go, who will service it, reliability, fuel efficiency, the list goes on. When making that decision, we feel the most important consideration is RELIABILITY. Ironically, when asked questions about engines, this is rarely brought up. It seems to be assumed that whatever engine is bought, it will be reliable. This is simply not always so.

Here at Shipyard, we have sold many Yamaha engines for both new and used boats. Those who buy them want a reliable engine . . . one that will start, stay running, run hard for hours, fish for even more, and then get them back home again -- CONSISTENTLY. We have also seen that Yamaha is, by far, the predominant outboard used in saltwater. Why? Not because they are the cheapest but because they are quite simply the most RELIABLE - period.

Yamaha manufactures a full line of both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. Four strokes for those who want the clean, quiet, fuel-efficient performance of the fastest growing outboard motor category. Two strokes for those whose priority is lightning-quick, hold-onto-your-hat acceleration (redefined by their revolutionary HPDI - High Pressure Direct Injection). Year after year, Yamaha leads the way in both two strokes and four strokes, with more accolades and awards than anyone in the market, most recently including:

  • the J.D. Powers and Associates Customer Satisfaction Award - 2008

  • the Marine Industry CSI award - 6 years running

This recognition is exceptional. They've proven their determination "to produce the most trusted outboards on the planet", using the most innovative marine technology with industry firsts such as the microcomputer ignition, breakthrough corrosion protection, the high-thrust four-stroke counter-rotating props, the first electronic fuel injection (rivaling the automotive EFI), high pressure direct injection, and Command Link digital information technology. They also introduced the world’s first V6 four-stroke outboard, and the first two-stroke HPDI which injects fuel at an amazing 1,000psi. In 2004, the 300 horsepower HPDI was introduced, and this year Yamaha introduced the world's first V8 5.3 liter four stroke outboard with the F350.

Yamaha owners have learned to expect innovations that bring them outboards that are smaller, lighter, faster, more powerful, and more fuel efficient. Shipyard Island Marina is proud to offer the full line of Yamaha outboard motors and parts. Please browse the new engines we have in inventory and our specials.
